Running Alphabet

Level: pre-A1, A1

Aim: to practise alphabet (recognizing and writing letters)

Materials: whiteboard and whiteboard markers

Students are divided into two/three/four groups and stand in two/three/four lines in front of the whiteboard. The teacher says a letter. The students who are first in lines run to the board and write the letter. Once the students finish they go to the back of their respective lines. The students who are next in line now write the next letter that the teacher says.

The activity can be extended and students can be asked to write a word that starts with the letter they have just written.

The students who are first in lines run to the board, write the sentence, try to correct it and explain why the sentence is wrong. Once the students finish they go to the back of their respective lines. The students who are next in line now write the next sentence that the teacher says.
