Storytelling Grammar – Double Consonants

Level: A1-A2

Aim: to introduce doubling of consonants in one-syllable verbs after –ing suffix is added; Present Continuous and spelling practice

Materials: whiteboard, whiteboard markers, flashcards (consonant twins)


Twins Power

There are tiny little verbs in English (win, sit, swim).

They all have their imaginary consonant twins.

We can see their imaginary twins when the tiny little verbs meet -ing.

 

When sit meets -ing imaginary twin t appears: I am sitting.

 

 

 

 

 

When win meets -ing imaginary twin n appears: He is winning.

 

 

 

 

 

When swim mets -ing imaginary twin m appears: They are swimming.
